Navigation Basics

Navigate ShipEdge Core using the main navigation menu at the top of the page. The menu structure depends on your permissions. This page describes the OMS (Order Management System) navigation.

Quick Access

Find features quickly using the organized menu structure. Main sections group related features together for easy access.

Efficient Workflow

Navigate between related features without losing your place. Menu organization follows your daily workflow patterns.

Permission-Based

Menu items appear based on your user permissions. You only see features you have access to, keeping navigation simple.

Context Awareness

Active page highlighting shows your current location. Dropdown menus reveal sub-features for each main section.

Main Menu Items (with appropriate permissions):

Menu Visibility

  • Menu items appear based on your user permissions
  • Each menu section checks specific permission fields
  • Hidden menu items are not accessible

Common Permission Fields

  • OrdersView - Controls Orders menu visibility
  • InventoryView - Controls Inventory menu visibility
  • ReplenishmentView - Controls Replenishment menu visibility
  • ReturnView - Controls Returns menu visibility
  • ReportView - Controls Reports menu visibility
  • Statements - Controls Statements menu visibility

User Type Restrictions

  • Account owners (User Type 1) see Preferences in My Account
  • Managers see additional System Config options
  • Premium services enable special features (My Shelf, etc.)

Submenu Access

  • Click main menu items to see dropdown menus
  • Dropdowns show related sub-features
  • Hover or click to expand dropdowns
  • Submenu items link to specific pages

Nested Menus

  • Some menus have multiple levels
  • Click parent item to see child items
  • Navigate through menu hierarchy
  • Return to main menu by clicking elsewhere

Logical Grouping

  • Related features grouped together
  • Main sections follow workflow patterns
  • Submenus organize detailed features
  • Consistent structure for your account permissions

Workflow-Based

  • Menu order follows typical workflows
  • Orders → Inventory → Replenishment → Returns flow
  • Reports and account settings toward the end
  1. Know your permissions

    Your menu shows only sections you are allowed to use.

  2. Locate Main Section

    Find the main menu section that contains your feature (Orders, Inventory, Reports, etc.).

  3. Check Dropdown Menu

    Click the main menu item to see dropdown submenu. Many features are in submenus.

  4. Navigate to Feature

    Click the specific menu item to go to that feature page.

  5. Use Active Indicator

    Check highlighted menu item to confirm you’re on the correct page.

Keyboard Navigation

  • Use Tab key to navigate menu items
  • Press Enter to activate menu item
  • Arrow keys navigate dropdown menus
  • Escape closes dropdown menus

Breadcrumb Navigation

  • Some pages show breadcrumb trails
  • Click breadcrumb items to navigate back
  • Shows your navigation path

Direct URL Access

  • You can access pages directly via URL
  • Menu provides organized access points
  • Direct URLs work if you have permissions

Wall

  • Communication board for team messages
  • Shows notifications and updates
  • Displays unread message count

Orders

  • Main order management section
  • Create, view, and manage orders
  • Upload orders, configure integrations
  • Set up order rules and automation

My Shelf (Premium)

  • Dedicated shelf inventory management
  • View My Shelf products and orders
  • Requires premium service activation

Inventory

  • Product catalog management
  • View and edit product information
  • Configure metadata and distribution centers
  • Manage product attributes

Replenishment

  • Create stock replenishment requests
  • View replenishment history
  • Manage ETA and archived requests

Returns

  • Process customer returns
  • Manage return orders and exchanges
  • Track return status and restocking

Reports

  • Generate standard and custom reports
  • View business intelligence dashboards
  • Export data for analysis

My Account

  • Account settings and preferences
  • Manage payment methods and statements
  • View transaction history and disputes
  • Configure account preferences

Use Active Indicators

Check the highlighted menu item to confirm your current location. Active indicators help you stay oriented in the system.

Explore Dropdown Menus

Click main menu items to see all available sub-features. Dropdown menus organize related features together.

Follow Workflow Order

Navigate through menus in workflow order: orders, inventory, replenishment, and returns group related tasks together.

Check Permissions

If you don’t see a menu item, you may not have permission. Contact your administrator to request access.

Use Search When Available

Some pages include search functionality. Use search to find specific items quickly within a section.

Bookmark Frequently Used Pages

Bookmark pages you use often for quick access. Direct URLs work if you have proper permissions.

Problem: Expected menu item doesn’t appear

  • Solution:
    1. Check your user permissions for that feature
    2. Confirm premium services are enabled (for My Shelf, etc.)
    3. Contact administrator to update permissions
    4. Check if feature is enabled in system configuration

Problem: Menu item appears but page shows access denied

  • Solution:
    1. You may have menu access but not page access
    2. Check specific page permissions
    3. Verify user level requirements
    4. Contact administrator for access

Problem: Dropdown menu doesn’t open

  • Solution:
    1. Check JavaScript is enabled in browser
    2. Try clicking menu item again
    3. Refresh page and try again
    4. Check browser console for errors
    5. Try different browser

Problem: Active page indicator incorrect

  • Solution:
    1. This is usually a display issue
    2. Refresh page to update indicator
    3. Check URL matches expected page
    4. Active indicator updates on page load

Problem: Menu structure looks different than expected

  • Solution:
    1. Menu structure depends on your permissions and account settings
    2. Verify you’re logged in with the correct account
    3. Some features require premium services or feature flags

Problem: Cannot access feature from menu

  • Solution:
    1. Verify you have permission for that feature
    2. Check user level requirements
    3. Confirm feature is enabled in system
    4. Try accessing page directly via URL
    5. Contact administrator if issue persists

Problem: Menu shows but page loads slowly

  • Solution:
    1. Check internet connection
    2. Wait for page to fully load
    3. Check browser performance
    4. Clear browser cache
    5. Try refreshing page
